Air Jordan 2 Retro 'Rivals'
Despite having fewer retro silhouettes than the Air Jordan 1, the Jordan 2 has enjoyed a cult following since 1986. While Don C has provided these fans with a few luxurious pairs, they have yet to see a faithful return to OG form for Michael Jordan's second signature sneaker. Tomorrow’s release will further test the patience of Jordan 2 fans, but it’s still impressive. While not original, this colorful pair harks back to the Jumpman's heyday. The upper of this women's shoe pays homage to Jordan's earliest competitors with a different hue. "Cosmic Purple" and yellow on the left shoe pay homage to the Los Angeles Lakers; "Action Red" lettering on the ankle and forefoot recall the Portland Trail Blazers, the team that was overlooked with the 23rd pick in the 1984 NBA Draft. The right shoe dedicates the blue/orange/green mashup to the two giants of the Eastern Conference: the New York Knicks and Boston Celtics. Despite how history has played out, there's no denying that the four teams playing tomorrow's game have played an integral role in making the Jumpman the GOAT by incorporating patent leather, quilted and basketball leather, satin and jersey mesh
